Golden Cross Award The Golden Cross is KACEP's yearly award presented to a person who has made outstanding contributions to the EMS community and advanced the care of the acutely sick and injured in the state of Kentucky. Any level of training is eligible, from layperson to physician. Our 2007 Winner will be announced at our upcoming fall meeting!

Dr. Mary Fallat is a pediatric surgeon with special interest in trauma at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Fallat works tirelessly in the pursuit of the very best care possible for our acutely injured children in the Kentuckiana area and all across Kentucky. Injured children are transported and airlifted for many miles to reach Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville where Dr. Fallat works with the entire emergency team in the Emergency Department. Dr. Fallat also represents the surgical community at the state-level Kentucky Board of EMS. 2005 Winner
Dr. Raymond Orthober is an Emergency Medicine physician with Kentuckiana Emergency Physicians in Louisville, Ky. Dr. Orthober has many years experience in the prehospital and emergency field, starting first as and EMT, then as a Paramedic for Jefferson County EMS. Dr. Orthober routinely works with Kentuckiana emergency services and resident physicians of the University of Louisville Department of Emergency Medicine.
